THE QUEEN'S COMMONWEALTH WRITING COMPETITION

The Queen’s Commonwealth Writing Competition 2026 is officially open and welcoming entries from young writers across the globe. This year’s inspiring theme is Common Ground: Better Together.

The Commonwealth represents one of the most varied international communities in the world, stretching across continents and encompassing a rich mix of cultures, languages, landscapes and generations. Its members range from small island nations to expansive countries, each shaped by unique histories and experiences. Despite these differences, they are connected by meaningful common ground: shared principles, mutual challenges and collective aspirations for the future.

With the 2026 theme, Common Ground: Better Together, participants are encouraged to reflect on the bonds that unite people and communities throughout the Commonwealth, and to consider how cooperation, understanding, and partnership can drive positive change.
