International Women's Day

The Royal Commonwealth Society hosts an annual event and reception to mark International Women’s Day, bringing together leaders, advocates and young people from across the Commonwealth to advance dialogue on gender equality. The event has become a key moment in the Society’s calendar, providing a platform to celebrate progress, confront persistent challenges and amplify the voices of those working to create lasting change for women and girls across the Commonwealth.

In 2025, the Society was honoured to welcome Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Edinburgh, a longstanding champion of gender equality in the UK, across the Commonwealth and beyond, who contributed to an important and timely discussion. The event was hosted at the Ismaili Centre in South Kensington, London, by the Ismaili Council, and brought together representatives from civil society, diplomacy, youth networks and partner organisations.

As Secretariat to the Commonwealth Youth Gender & Equality Network (CYGEN), the Society is proud to champion the power of youth voice in shaping a more equal future.
