Introducing our Strategic Plan 2025–2030

Today marks a significant milestone for the Royal Commonwealth Society. One hundred and fifty-eight years ago, this organisation was founded on a belief in the power of the Commonwealth to improve lives and bring people together. That belief remains at the heart of everything we do, and it is what drives the Strategic Plan we are proud to share with you today.
Building on real progress
The past five years have been a period of real and measurable progress for the Royal Commonwealth Society and the communities we serve. We exceeded almost every target we set across our four strategic pillars. More than 7.5 million people watched our Commonwealth Day Celebration. Over 121,000 young people entered the Queen's Commonwealth Writing Competition, with a record 53,434 entries in 2025 alone. CYGEN developed more than 1,200 young leaders across 40 countries. And 12 million hectares of forest were protected through the Queen's Commonwealth Canopy.
In 2024, we were honoured when His Majesty The King became our Patron and Her Majesty The Queen our Vice-Patron, making the Royal Commonwealth Society the only UK charity to hold both Royal Patronage and Vice-Patronage.
Looking ahead
Our Strategic Plan 2025–2030 sets out an ambitious and collaborative vision for the years ahead, structured around three interconnected pillars: Equality, Education, and Environment. As our Chair, Janet Cooper OBE, writes in her foreword,
"In a time of profound global change, the need for partnership, dialogue and shared purpose has never been greater."
It is in that spirit that we present our Strategic Plan 2025–2030.
