On 21 March 2025, the second stage of the King's Baton Relay took place at Conaree Beach in St. Kitts and Nevis. The Commonwealth Clean Oceans Plastics beach clean-up event brought together 43 dedicated volunteers who successfully removed 405 lbs of waste from the beach, highlighting the power of community action in tackling plastic pollution.Â
The event was made possible through the support of several local and regional partner organisations, as well as enthusiastic participation from local schoolchildren. The following partners played a vital role in ensuring the success of this clean-up:Â
The Commonwealth Games Association St. Kitts and NevisÂ
The Ripple Institute SKNÂ
St. Kitts and Nevis Chess FederationÂ
Anjolique Dance CompanyÂ
TDC Home & Building DepotÂ
SKANDIS St Kitts Department of Youth EmpowermentÂ
St. Kitts Nevis Association of Persons with DisabilitiesÂ
St. Kitts Seventh-day Adventist PrimaryÂ
ZIZ Broadcasting CorporationÂ
St. Kitts and Nevis Olympic CommitteeÂ
The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police ForceÂ
Solid Waste Management Corporation - ST KITTSÂ
The incredible efforts and time dedicated by all the volunteers were essential to the success of the event, and the Caribbean Youth Environment Network (CYEN)Â team extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved.Â
The Caribbean Youth Environment Network (CYEN) was proud to be entrusted with this important initiative across the Caribbean by the Royal Commonwealth Society. As we look forward to the continued success of the campaign, we eagerly anticipate the next phase as we move towards Glasgow 2026.Â
Together, we are making strides in preserving our oceans and protecting our environment for future generations.Â
