RCS INTERNATIONAL MEETINGS
Last February the Society and the RCS Victoria Branch decided to postpone the 2021 RCS International Meeting due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the health and wellbeing of delegates and the pandemic’s impact on travel arrangements, both within Australia and internationally.
Following wide-ranging consultation between stakeholders and consideration of factors including CHOGM 2022, Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, the Society and RCS Victoria Branch have agreed that this year’s International Meeting (IM2022) will now be held in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, from the 26th-28th September 2022.
The IM2022 programme format will continue to be based on the four priorities of the Society (Connected Communities, Equality and Inclusion, Literacy, and the Environment) and it will feature presentations by Government and Community Leaders, panel discussions and workshops based on some of the challenges we are experiencing across the Commonwealth.
To assist RCS Victoria’s preparations, an expression of interest in attending the IM2022 will shortly be distributed throughout the Society’s international network. A website will also be launched in the coming months to assist in sharing information on the IM2022 as preparations continue.
As numerous members of the RCS family will need to travel significant distances to attend IM2022, opportunities to extend and maximise your time down under are also being planned, with opportunities for events in New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory and South Australia also being developed. RCS Victoria is grateful for the work being undertaken between all Australian branches to ensure smooth transitions between the various destinations.
We thank you for your continued patience as we seek to bring together the RCS international network in these uncertain times and look forward to seeing you all in September.
