Asia Regional Co-ordinator, Asia: Peter Mann Peter Mann was born in England and read English at Exeter College, Oxford. He served in the Hong Kong Administrative Service for 25 years in the fields of transport, housing, security, environment and tourism. He is currently Chairman of The Royal Commonwealth Society, Hong Kong Branch, and author of the memoir, Sheriff of Wan Chai. Peter Mann: [email protected] Regional Youth Co-ordinator, Asia: Dhanesh Basil Dhanesh Basil graduated as Bachelor of Accounting from Multimedia University, Malaysia and is currently pursuing his Master’s in Economics at University Malaya. Dhanesh was the Co-ordinator for the Commonwealth Youth Council (CYC) Secretariat which oversees the complete operation of the CYC in accordance with the direction established in the CYC strategic plan. He was also a former Malaysian Youth Parliament Representative under the International Relations and Diplomacy Committee. Dhanesh was a Perdana Fellow to the former Minister in the Prime Minister's Department and was then selected by the Prime Minister’s Office to be part of the Planning and Implementation Committee of the Malaysian Indian Blueprint, focusing on empowerment of the Indian community; he has also worked on several projects pertaining to the Transformational National 2050 with the Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia. Dhanesh holds several portfolios in various organisations nationwide including as National Youth Delegate to: CYC General Assembly/ Commonwealth Youth Forum 2015 (Malta) and UN Economic and Social Council Youth Forum 2017 (New York), having also been the Member of the SGI Network, High Commission of UK in Malaysia and Director of Youth Affairs, Royal Commonwealth Society Malaysia. Dhanesh Basil: [email protected] Regional Co-ordinator, India: Shivani Wazir PasrichShivani Wazir Pasrich is an Economics Honours & Law graduate, a former Miss India World Wide, an Actress, an Odissi dancer and she is actively involved with social concerns. Shivani helped launch Lok Sabha (Parliament of India) TV channel and has anchored various television programs and produced and directed documentaries on the Girl Child, Education and Dance. Her production house SWP Productions works to raise awareness on issues that plague society. Their conservation project, 'I am the Tiger' uses performance, art and sport to raise awareness about environmental concerns. Shivani was awarded ‘Pride of the Nation’ in 2009 and in 2013 she received the Universal Humanity Award. She was also the recipient of the India Foundation award for excellence in her field and the Women Achievers recognition from TIE. Shivani Wazir Pasrich: [email protected] Regional Youth Co-ordinator, India: Hari Om Dahiya Hari Om Dahiya is driven by a passion for learning and action for social change, particularly through informal education and youth projects. He has worked in areas including intercultural dialogue, youth participation, girl child education, and gender and leadership development in Canada, the UK, Singapore, Maldives, Bhutan, Nepal and India. Hari Om is currently President & Youth Chairman of The Commonwealth Students’ Welfare Group of India (CSWGI) having, for the past 12 years, given vision and leadership to the Indian Youth Community and across the Commonwealth. He has worked with a number of International and National Youth Organisations and government bodies. Hari Om is recipient of a number of awards for outstanding contribution and achievements in the youth sector: IIIS Star Impact Award, Distinguished Social Service Award, Visionary Leadership Award, Best Innovative Youth of the Year, Distinguished Social Service and Leadership Award and is also Board Member to a number of youth and child rights organisations in India and abroad. He is an alumnus of St. Stephen’s College (Economics & Philosophy) and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in International Law and Diplomacy from the Indian Society of International Law, New Delhi. He is working with a coalition of youth networks on Cross-cultural Commonwealth Youth projects, which aim at formulating and stimulating youth interest in Commonwealth SDGs and International Affairs.
